Synopsis 2016 workshop

This year I would like to focus on four or five elements of design and instill a conscience awareness of these elements as we are painting, keeping in mind that although all should exist in our work, one should be dominant.   As well as learning to read the marks on the painting as a visual journey with an entry point and exit point.

I can show demos on how to work abstractly by building up a bunch of marks and visual information, and how to intuitively edit your canvas with the design elements in mind.

This approach is more abstract, however it will inevitably help you make intuitive and logical design decisions and you work on your own series of work.

I would also like to explore the idea of collage, it is a great way to solve problems and immediately add a new dimension to your artwork that can serve as a directional shift in your work as you run into obstacles and creative problems.

This class will bend your brain.  The best way I can describe looking at your work and solving creative problems with abstract solutions is by learning how to walk upside down but still seeing the world right side up.

Bring your vises to help you relax, be that coffee (provided is cowboy coffee and tea) wine, beer, whatever floats your boat.

I look forward to seeing everyone soon.
